Jordan Britenburg Eagle Project
This Eagle Scout Project was a community project for Meals on Wheels (MOW) - Anderson, SC that included the design and construction of a brick monument sign, a brick/stone herb garden, and a paver patio with iron park benches to aid the elderly volunteers, as well as groups which utilize the building as a meeting space. The project improved safety by installing security flood lighting and two Automated External Defibrillators (AED), and providing staff training to manage cardiac emergencies. During the implementation phase of the AED, I became certified as a CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor in order to train and certify the MOW staff.
The project improvements resulted in facility safety and beautification attracting new paying users to increase likelihood of fund-raising. The project accumulated $8,400 in cash donations from 65 sources, included 936 labor hours from 73 volunteers and $20,000 of in-kind professional labor and material donations from 23 companies over a 10 month period for a total project valued at $25,500. At completion, the project turned over $2,500 of excess funds to MOW to support its everyday operations.
